Tryskelion Spring Celebration Outline - 1998

Special Items:

  • Eggs and Dye
  • Balloons, paper and markers
  • Helium

Circle space and the manner in which Quarters are called are different than at other Sabbats. The Quarters will be invoked either at each of the cardinal points outside the house, or at the cardinal point in the corresponding room closest to the outside wall. Doing it this way, the entire house is within the sacred circle.

Prior to each individual giving the Quarter Invocation, a focusing meditation for that Quarter will be read by the HPS.

Quarter Invocations

God and Goddess Invocations

Egg Dying

HPS explains the symbolism of eggs, as well as other aspects symbolic to the season while the group colors and decorates previously hard-boiled eggs. The eggs are then hidden throughout the house by the HP and HPS. Once the group has gathered all the eggs in their baskets, the baskets will be set around the altar. The eggs will later be used at feast, as well as offering some to the fairy folk.

Magickal Working

Each person writes on separate slips of paper what they would like to have occur for them over the course of the year. After inserting their slips of paper into balloons, they chant:

On paper we write the words we feel,
In this vessel, our message we seal.

When the last message is inserted, the chant will stop.

The balloons are then filled with helium and sealed, with the group chanting the following:

This vessel that holds the message we send
We fill with the breath that sails the wind.

Chant will stop when all balloons are filled and sealed.

Inscribing balloons

With magic markers, each person will inscribe their balloon with symbols to guide and protect it and its message, while the group chants the following:

These symbols we mark to protect and guide
this sacred vessel and its message inside.

Chant will stop when all balloons are inscribed.

Release of balloons

The group will exit the house with their balloons, chanting the following chant:

Father Above, Mother Below,
Cast these thoughts on the winds that blow.

As each person is ready, they release their balloon(s) to the four winds. The chant ends when the last balloon has been released and drifts out of sight (and what a glorious sight this was!)
