Tryskelion Rite of Imbolc

The Circle is built as normal with the following exceptions:

  • The centerpiece of the Aftar will be the brass cauldron filled with snow and one pillar candle.

  • Silver candlesticks will flank the brass cauldron.

  • Candles of all sizes and shapes are to be placed around and within the Circle... unlit!

  • HPS shall wear a black, hooded cape. Under the cape, she should be clad in anything bright, light, and airy.

After the Circle is built, consecrated, and the Watchtowers are invoked, the cakes and ale are blessed.

At this point, there are no lights burning anywhere within the Circle or the adjacent rooms, except for the Goddess Candle. Priestess has donned a black, hooded cape and, with hood drawn over her head, sits resting in the middle of the Circle.

Priest kneels over Priestess and strokes her head, saying:

Priest: Blessed Lady, I am the Sun King, reborn. Young now, but with each day I grow in strength. You are my mother. Can you see? Even as Crone, your flame burns brightly! Let me give you of my warmth to aid you in your passage towards Maiden, my eternal love. The winter is fading. It's darkness gives way to light.

Looking at the coven members he says: GO! one and all. Let each light his candle from the eternal flame of the Goddess, then go and light all candles you can find within this Circle. Let the warmth of the candles be our strength in this, the time of our rebirthing. Go now... and let no candle go unlit.

As each candle is lit, the coven members chant:

Waxing, Waxing, Growing, Growing,
The Lady's power is flowing flowing.

After all the candles are lit, and everyone is once again gathered together in the Circle, Priest says to Priestess:

Priest: Now, beautiful Lady, cast off thy cloak of Crone, and join me in this rebirth! When next we meet along this Wheel, may we dance the fires of Beltane for the fertility and prosperity of Earth.

Priest then helps Priestess stand and she flings off the cape of the Crone. Raising her arms in the pose of Benediction, she says:

Priestess: Blessed be all who art assembled here to adore me, who am Queen of all Witcheries. May the searching of thy soul during this season lead to growth and, most of all, to peace. My blessings I give to thee, one and all.

Priestess then turns towards Priest and says: Eternal son, eternal consort, come with me and let us put to flame the last two candles. For though all other flames may die, may all here know that these two flames that do honor Lord and Lady, shall burn forever brightly within them.

Priest and Priestess light the candles representing the Lord and Lady (in the silver candlesticks), together, from the Goddess candle. As they do so, they look at each other and say:

Priestess: Blessed Be the new Sun King.

Priest: Blessed Be the Lady, forever Eternal.

ALL: (Each holding their candle in salute): Blessed Be the Lord and Lady.

Cakes and Ale are shared at this point.

Priestess picks up the brass cauldron with the melting snow and takes it to each of the coven members, saying:

Priestess: As this snow is melted by the warmth of the Goddess candle, know ye this: that the coldness in thy bones and in thy soul in this dead season shall give way to the joy and laughter that is the Season of the Goddess. Blessed Be.

Devocations are given, energy is grounded, and the Circle is opened.

The Feast of Pan should then commence!
