Wassail Ceremony
Pour cider on the roots of the tree & place toast points soaked in cider in its branches. Then say:
Old apple tree, we wassail thee
And hope that thou wilt bear
For Goddess knows where we shall be
Come apple time next year.
To bloom well, and bear well
So happy let us be
Let everyone take off their hat
And shout out to the tree:
Old apple tree, we wassail thee
And hope that thou wilt bear
Hatfuls, capfuls, bushel bagfuls
And a little heap under the stair.
Three cheers for the old apple tree!
Hip hip hooray!
Hip hip hooray!
Hip hip hooray!
(SAY LOUD!)
