Into the Underworld
Begin your meditation by mentally surrounding yourself with a brilliant white light of protection. Relax all your muscles, then mentally unload all of your problems.
You will find yourself at the entrance to a black cave that leads downward into the Earth. As you wait, undecided about entering, a black jackal comes out of the cave. It comes to stand in front of you, its tongue hanging out.
"Are you willing to enter the Underworld?" the jackal asks, "If you are, then follow me."
The jackal trots beside you as you enter the dark cave. At first you can see nothing, but soon a faint light from an unknown source drifts along with you. You are not afraid of the jackal or the cave.
The cave tunnel makes a sudden turn and you find yourself in a massive cavern. You can't see the ceiling or the far walls because it is so huge. The light in this cavern seems to be filtered from another source. It wavers as light does when it passes through water.
Near the center stands a dark throne set with sparkling gems, and beside it a cauldron. A woman dressed in a long back gown sits on the throne, while at her side stands the Egyptian god Anubis. Your jackal guide leads you straight to the foot of the throne.
"Welcome," says the woman, "I am Hecate, Queen of the Underworld. Through me you are born. To me you return at the end of your life. If you are prepared to accept truth, you can look into your past lives and learn from your mistakes." She points a white hand at the cauldron.
"See only truth," Anubis warns you. "If you seek the false, you will repeat the mistakes again."
You step up to the cauldron and look into the dark water within. Pictures begin to form in the water, pictures of the stories of your past lives. Some will be pleasant, some unpleasant. You watch the story of you life unfold, and see the mistakes you made. At last, you turn away from the cauldron and once more stand before Anubis and the Dark Mother.
"Are you prepared for initiation?" Anubis asks.
If you are not prepared to undergo initiation at this time, the jackal will lead you back through the tunnel to your physical body. If you are, Anubis and Hecate will initiate you in an Underworld ceremony. Each person will experience different things during the ceremony, pertinent to their stage of spiritual development and ability to receive.
When the initiation is finished, the jackal leads you back through the tunnel to your physical body.
