Instead, we use it today as a substitute for highly poisonous mercury. Charms, talismans, etc., dedicated to Mercury are now made out of aluminum and carried or worn to increase mental clarity and abilities. |
| Brass | Sun | Fire | Brass is an alloy produced from copper and zinc. As it simulates gold, so it retains the Sun/Fire duality, as well as the corresponding traits of attracting money, influence, power, etc. |
| Copper | Venus | Water | Used for healing, to attract love, to maintain health, to draw luck, and to draw prosperity. Copper helps to aligns energies and adds energy to spells. |
| Gold | Sun | Fire | Adds energy to ritual, gives courage, confidence, and will power. Protective, used in defensive magick. It promotes wisdom and is used for attracting money and success. |
| Iron | Mars | Fire | Protective, worn for physical strength, good for athletes. Used for grounding, and shutting off psychic centers when under psychic attack. Not good to use inside circle, as it grounds and shields raised energies. |

| Mercury | Mercury | Air | Luck; at one time used as a scrying mirror, as well as for protective charms. However, today we know better. DO NOT USE MERCURY!!!! This is highly poisonous to touch, breathe in the fumes, or ingest in any form. Instead, use Aluminum as a substitute! |
| Platinum | Moon | Water | Brings about balance; calms and helps bring a tumultous life under control. Improves the memory, attitude, and outlook on life. |
| Silver | Moon | Water | Love attracting, aids psychic development, produces prophetic dreams, calming, guards travelers, money attracting, protective. Healing, aids communication, lessens anxiety, assists with problem solving. Goddess magick, magickal focus. |
| Steel | Mars | Fire | Steel is produced from iron by adding carbon. Protective, guards against negativity, prevents nightmares. Because it's produced from iron, I would be wary of using it inside a circle, lest it dampen or ground the energies. |
