Grounding and Centering


Sit on the floor or stand with back straight

Do a relaxation ritual

Take a deep breath in, then release it. As you release it, imagine yourself as a tree sending your energy down into the Earth like roots. Keep sending them down until they "feel" firmly established.

Now, begin breathing-in and drawing-up energy from the Earth. Allow the energy to fill your whole body.

When you are ready, send energy up and out to the sky and universe as "branches".

When your branches "feel" firmly established, begin drawing energy down from the universe into your body. Breath in and out feeling the energy come up from the Earth and down from the universe into your body. Allow the energy to circulate.

When you are ready, pull-up your roots and pull-down your branches into yourself, allowing yourself to become a singular, solid wholeness.

(NOTE: when using this exercise before other meditations, do not pull your branches and roots in until you are completely finished.)
